Why is it gaining momentum in your industry?

Today, the aviation industry is growing because aviation and air
transport are becoming more and more developed. With this growth it is
important that the organizations take charge of their operations and
make sure that the direction they take is correct. We are expecting
innovations and revolutions in the aviation industry wherein we need to
keep the IP in-house and make sure we are responsible and in control of
our development.

Are organizations missing a trick by not creating a “Chief Insourcing Officer” post?

Actually, more than Chief Insourcing Officer, I believe the companies
are missing out on a lot by not having an insourcing attitude itself.
Having a right mix of contractors is an essential strategy to ensure the
swings which are common-place in any business are managed efficiently
without any issues and operational breakdown. We should clearly know
when and what to outsource to the contractors and what domains and
operations to keep insourced in-house to ensure the growth of the

How can a CIO create a solid business case for insourcing?

CIOs need to focus on the long term affects and development of the
organization taking into consideration the information and data at their
disposal. Insourcing also offers the advantage of maintaining software
IP within the organization for building long term sustainable advantage
for the organization. The CIO needs to put forth the importance of
insourcing and how it will effect the financial and operational
conditions of the organization. Focus should even be on the brand image
and recognition of the organization.

What services lend themselves best to outsourcing in your industry?

The main projects of IT, aviation systems and integration with
related interference at airport, special airport systems, risks, budget
and IT strategy planning are mostly kept insourced owing to their
sensitive nature.
Support for the products like ERP and CRM systems, and contact center
services offering seamless customer interaction across channels can be
readily outsourced in our industry.
